This coming Saturday, Nick Reid, our 6th Class Junior Lead, will be competing in the Gaelforce 3.9km Ironman swim in Killary Fjord, Connemara.

Read below to hear what Nick has to say about what his motivations are for taking part;

"For some time, I have felt guilty that I have not done enough to help support the poor people of Ukraine, to recognise the suffering they constantly endure, day in and day out. Now is my time to do my bit. They are proud people and have every right to be a proud nation. I want to support them.

Any monies that I am able to raise will go towards supporting Colette Talbot’s efforts to help the Ukrainian people. When Colette and her team trip out there in the coming months, she will meet her contacts from Chernihiv at the border, enabling her to get the aid directly into Ukraine. Colette is one of our local unsung Greystones heroes who devotes much of her time to people who need support, including the homeless in Dublin. She has already undertaken five trips to Ukraine, providing them with aid and vital medical supplies for many of the Ukrainian people stranded on the Ukrainian / Polish border.

Once I have completed the swim, I will be forwarding a GoFundMe link for any kind donations people may wish to make, all of which will be donated towards supporting Collette’s forthcoming trip.

Thank you for any support you can offer; I will keep you updated next week.

Many thanks,

Nick"

We will follow up next week with Nick's GoFundMe link for anyone that would like to donate to the cause.

On behalf of Bray HC, we wish Nick the very best this weekend at Gaelforce and we look forward to hearing more about it!
